Optimization of continuous particle separation in a symmetric sharp corner microchannel

The separation of circulating tumor cells from the bloodstream with high purity plays a crucial role in treatment cancer. Design and fabrication cell sorters based on numerical models can lead to optimized terms throughput, purity, size. Based model, symmetric sharp corner microchannel was developed this study achieve more compact sorter high-purity output. Sharp corners generate centrifugal inertial lift forces that cause particles (7.32 15.5 μm) separate. proposed model validated using experimental data. method reduced device size by up 19% while retaining level 95.45%. These results will have an impact designing output for implantable applications.
